The meaning of vaastu is – “The simplification of reliant”. 

In simple words vaastu means a system of construction that provides peace, harmony and satisfactory life to the people of house, which is build according to Vaastu Shastra. Vaastu shastra in fact, is a very old science of India. Its knowledge can enable people to get benefits of mental peace, health, wealth etc, and make lives happy. 

This science, after submitting the rules of construction, goes to prove that by constructing properly of buildings, villages, towns, cities, shops, offices, factories and industries, people can make themselves successful. If the residents of buildings don’t follow vaastu rules, as are at variance with the rules of this science, several calamities, shortages, diseases and financial insecurity throughout their lives. Ancient sages and Rishis of India created vaastu shastra for the welfare of entire humanity.

As per the Vaastu rules, while building it must be situated in such a way that it receives the maximum benefit from the solar and cosmic energies. Thus the compass reading attains a vital part. 

The various directions are:

North, South, East, West, NorthEast, NorthWest, SouthEast and SouthWest. Every corner is again divided into 2 sides. Namely:   

       

          

NorthEast - East North East North North East    

SouthEast - East South East South South East    

NorthWest - West North West North North West

SouthWest - South South West West South West  

The NorthEast corner receives the cosmic energy, which is a combination of energy from different planets apart from sun, in large quantity. And from there it moves in the opposite direction i.e to the SouthWest.

Vaastu tips for Home

People love their house and spend lot of money in decorating their heaven to make it comfortable for staying, but if they don’t follow the rules of vaastu then they will have tough time ahead in their life and it will restrict their development and growth.

 Prayer Room: People should keep the prayer room neat and clean, and should always be placed in North-East direction. Image or Statue of deity should never face south direction. Ideal positions for praying are to face east or west while praying.

Stair-Case: While people construct house/flat do keep in mind the direction of the staircase, it is advised that the staircase should be southern or south-western portion of the building. It is advisable that the staircases should preferably be curved gently rather than straight and the spiral staircases are not fortunate.

Doors: The doors should never open / face temples or cemetery. When doors face each other, make sure that they face each other directly.

Vaastu tips for Industry/Factory

People should keep some important points before setting up factory, they are:

The 'SHERDAH' plot has been considered very favorable. The shape of the land, roads, continuous availability of water and electric power etc., should be kept in mind. The main gate of the factory should be kept in the East, North or North-East of the plot. All other doors can be kept in North-East, East, North or North-West direction.

 Guards are the one who plays important role in security purpose of the factory, so the guardroom of the factory should be in North-West of the Northern gate and to the South-East of Eastern gate and most important that there must be open space in the North- East direction. The land of the factory should be elevated in South-West.

It is advisable that the North-East portion of the factory should be lower than the South-West portion. The South-East and North-West corner should be selected for the staff. The North-West corner should be used for car-parking. The water tank should always be located in the north east sectors, which will benefit the factory.

The administrative block should be either in the North or in the East direction. For lavatory and toilet the North-West or South-East corner are most suitable. Transformers, boilers, oil engines, generators etc., should be kept in South-East corner.

Semi-finished goods should always be kept in the West corner. If people follow this then the finished product will have continuous sale. The production process should initiate in the South-West and the final product should come out from North-East. For heavy machinery South, West or South-West corner is best and these directions are also suitable for raw materials and the store of the factory should be in the South-West corner.

Vaastu tips for Office

Vaastu in office will provide good environment to work and get good opportunity to grow.

Do keep in mind some of the important tips:

Facing of staff should be towards North or East directions. The senior executives/ managers/ directors should reside in South-West, West & South corners. The accounts staff/ engineering staff/ artist should be placed in South-East corner. The reception/ visitors/ temple/ drinking water to be placed in North-East corner.

  

The middle management executives/staff should be placed in North & East corners. 

The field staff should be placed in North-West corner. North East corner should be kept empty.

Vaastu Shastra evolved as a collection of planning principles for a healthy living based on the knowledge base of the time and was not meant to be unconditional. Its current popularity stems from its focus on a holistic come within reach of space and form.

Vastu was earlier used in the design of ancient Indian homes, but became less important in the industrialization period and following the colonial British Raj. But it is used extensively in temple design, and so survived in the clans of temple designers and architects. In recent years, it has again gained the mainstream popularity, and there are several Vastu 'consultants' in India, some dubious, some genuine.
